Darwin-based journalist Kerry shifted from the deep south to the far north when she moved from her WA hometown of Albany to Australia’s only tropical capital in the 1970s. She arrived by sea on coastal supply ship, on a journey that ignited a deep love for Australia’s remote north and its people. Kerry went fresh out of school into a journalism cadetship. She worked in radio and newspapers before doing media liaison for many government and private agencies. She opted for the freelance life in 1996 and has since written regularly to wide-ranging Australian and overseas publications, with her contributions always reflecting that special essence of life in the north.
