Jane Smith is Accidentally Outback’s resident foodie.
Born and bred in station-country outside Broken Hill, Jane lives with her young family on a cattle and sheep station, and thinks it was fate that returned her to the life on the land after years working around the country-side, post secondary school.
With husband Terry, and children George and Annabelle, she thrives on life in the outback, and particularly cherishes the use of food that the family grow in their extensive vegie garden, in the kitchen.
Jane runs her own small food business from the station, supplying handmade sour dough bread, cakes and muesli to local businesses and private customers. “It has taken me almost 30 years to find my real passion and now in addition to being a farmer’s wife and mum, I also run a small food business.
"I love cooking food, reading about food, food blogs, cook books, restaurant reviews, growing vegetables, raising seeds and teaching our children about self sufficiency. I hope to share a few thoughts on all things delicious and wholesome with you."
