I’ve just been listening to the Bishop appointed to look into the chronic shortage of priests in the area…
And what struck me immediately was the constant use of “I” in his sentences…
Every answer he gave during the radio interview was a long winded explanation to the events surrounding the inquiry, about the actions he had taken, from Forbes to Broken Hill... and it wasn’t gripping listening.
What a perfect day - babes in bed, one asleep, the other making various jungle noises...a tiger then a quick interchange to elephant...
We've been to the park, run across bridges, squealed down slides and yelled at the dog to come back to the pram and stop eating the stranger's sandwiches!
I've just watched a Landline story on the Cooks of Suplejack Station, and not for the first time, I found tears flowing at Rob Cook's journey.
They were tears not from pity or any depth of woe, but of inspiration and gratitude that there are people who see obstacles, no matter how high, as something to take on with gritted teeth, rather than self pity.
It seems ironic that the very animals that Animal's Australia have sought to protect, are now the ones suffering in the political argy bargy of the live export ban to Indonesia.
While this week's decision was on the cards since Monday week ago, upon the display of horrific footage showing the mistreatment of Australian cattle via ABC's Four Corner's....the ban is a logistical nightmare for the live export trade, who now have to work out what to do with the thousands of cattle which remain in limbo across the north and west of the country.
This image has tickled my fancy..

As my friend Bessie Blore indicates upon careful study of the PM of the day, Julia looks like she's getting a lap dance!
I've had a small chuckle at the irony of the Gillard government wheeling out Bob Hawke to back the Carbon Tax roadshow today!
My memory of Hawkie is of an irreverent, chain smoking philanderer, quick on the 'ockerisms' and an icon of the eighties...he's clearly the polar opposite to the earlier choice of carbon-pin up, in pure, correct in a creative way, Cate Blanchett.
The scenes shown last night on Four Corners were worse than I could have imagined.
While in yesterday's blog I was gung-ho in my anticipation of what I expected to be far from delicate viewing (ie the practices of animal slaughter in Indonesian abattoirs), the truth of it was that I couldn't stand watching it.
It's already a big week for Australia's live export industry, and it's only going to get bigger...the viewing tonight of footage taken by animal rights activists in four Indonesian abattoirs is said to be damning of their treatment of the beasts (putting it lightly), exported from Australian shores. It's viewing that threatens the entire industry.
I've laughed and laughed at a photo on Rob Cook's website...www.robcook.com.au Scroll down a little, and on the mid left of the home page you'll see a picture of Rob and his mate planking!
We've had a fantastic response here at AO to the story about Jodie Weekes, our crafty woman of the week in Cobar!
The innovative young mum and wife of a farmer is bringing back craft - it's the new black don't you know? Seriously, I saw a sign saying exactly that 'craft is the new black' in a very groovy shop in Mildura a few weeks ago. And the gorgeous Jodie is proving that.
